In the Mood...

I'm in the mood to sew.

Aren't these fabrics just edible?
Okay, I don't eat fabric, but I do snuggle it a little.

My favorite place for gorgeous and affordable fabric is here.
My recent fabric spree is what has me totally inspired, beyond my actual sewing capabilities.
I keep meaning to take real sewing lessons, but until then, I manage to stumble through my projects.

I have made a few aprons with this Amy Butler pattern.
I've made them for gifts and I'm finding it harder and harder to give them away.
I don't even have one single apron. How wrong is that?

And I'm knee deep in a quilt for my daughter.
I'm doing a variation of this pattern from Moda Bake Shop.
But I'm most excited (and nervous) about sewing with minky fabric for the first time. (Any tips?)
It will be so soft on the back. I love the subtle paisley print in it.
I'll show ya the finished product later.

If you have stopped by and wondered why I'm in my pajamas at noon, now you understand.
Or if I have been forgetful (sorry Starla) because I am not sleeping much, now you understand.

I've been sewing.

  1. Thats why I haven't in a while because it is definetly ALL consuming and addicting!!

  2. Ooooo! Can't wait to see what you make. I don't sew, wish I did though. I know Erica Evans does a lot of sewing with minky fabric. I have her email if you don't.

  3. Minky on Minky is a dream to sew. Minky with Cotton or satin is a diff. story. If you combine fabrics....use tons of pins and sew with the minky on the bottom!!!! or else the minky will stretch as it is fed through the top. Good luck. My fav. minky site
    Others are and

There are some really cute minky farics out there. I haven't tried the embossed paisley, can't wait to see it!

  4. I recognize a lot of that fabric from my friend Chelsea who is a pattern designer- the Heather Bailey one on top especially. Fun. Hey, we're coming into town for Easter and a couple of days after. Are you guys in town?

  5. those fabrics are edible, they make me want to sew. I've made several aprons for others and don't have one for myself. I've read other sewing bloggers say the same. Isn't that funny. I think someone should host a sew your own apron party. So everyone can finally make themselves an apron.
p.s. I love your b-day party ideas below. I'm the same as you I have ideas in my head but don't really make plans or anything until a day or two ahead.
    I love your blog.

  6. I sew with minky a lot also there really isn't anything to tricky but if you do sew with another fabric minky always on the bottom, just like above said. Call if you have questions!

  7. I love them. Very beautiful. Thanks for sharing. hermes birkin replica
